Interception of intruder drones, emergency support

Due to the rapidly growing demand for unmanned technologies in all kinds of spheres of human life and real cases of threat, a new sphere of application arises, namely, the interception of intruder drones. The main areas of unlawful activity using UAVs are smuggling, espionage and pinpoint strikes.

There are developments on the interception of drones from the ground – this can be swamping, jamming specific radio channels, intercepting control (if there is a control panel), even destroying drones with firearms and other weapons, but the safest option is to intercept the drone. In this case, the intruder drone does not explode from firing, does not fall due to signal loss, but is “netted” by law enforcement agencies. It is possible to stop a drone’s flight during counter-terrorism operations, operational-search and investigative measures, as well as in places of mass and public events, over critical facilities, potentially hazardous industries, and elements of transport infrastructure.

FIXAR application

FIXAR has already developed its own version of intercepting a drone: first, the intruder UAV is monitored, then the interceptor vessel with a specialized net rises into the air, catches up and catches the intruder. In airplane mode, FIXAR is able to accelerate to a speed that is unattainable for most multi-rotor devices and easily overtakes the target. After getting netted, the rotors of the intruder drone become entangled, and it hangs with a load under the interceptor frame. After that, FIXAR carries the goods to the place of planned landing. Such a system can be used to protect strategic facilities and during public events. Furthermore, the net can be used to capture unregistered drones.

Also, it is possible to integrate additional equipment that can automatically be guided, for example, by the noise of the engines of the pursued drone or by its image in the “computer vision” system.
